Game Rules

Waivers

All players must have a signed waiver on file before they are allowed to play. Players under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver before playing.

Paint & Air

Bring your own paint and air/CO2. Bring decent paint. You don’t want to spend all day cleaning breaks out of your marker. We can fill HPA tanks at the field for a minimal fee. We cannot fill CO2 tanks at the field.

Chrono

All markers must be chronographed the morning of the games. Max speed is 275fps. Thanks to our members, Red Knights Paintball has a chronograph at the field. Please be on time for chrono.

Protective Equipment

Protective masks designed for paintball must be worn at all times when out of the dead zone during games. Do not remove your mask until “Game Over” is called, or until you are safely inside the dead zone.

Gloves, kneepads, chest protectors and other protective gear are allowed but not required. The field we play on is rocky with steep terrain. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes. Boots are a good idea.

Dead Man Walking

If you are out, yell “I’m Out” loudly to let other players know, then place your barrel plug/sock on the end of your marker, raise one hand above your head (preferably NOT the one facing the other team), and walk toward the dead zone.

Do NOT stop to pick anything up or hand anything to another player. Do NOT crouch behind bunkers or other players will think you are not out and will continue to shoot at you.

Players still in the game should watch for people walking toward the dead zone and NOT shoot towards a player who is obviously out. However, mistakes happen, so be prepared for a bonus shot or two.

If you are behind a bunker, raising your marker above the top of the bunker first, with the barrel sock on, and yelling very loudly, will help alert other players to your status.

Hits, Breaks, & Barrel Tags

Any break larger than a quarter anywhere on the player or their equipment is a hit and the player should call themselves out. Because we cannot assure the quality of paint, any square hit where the ball obviously should have broken but didn’t is also a hit. If the ball bounces off the ground first, it is not a hit. Splatter less than the size of a quarter is not a hit.

Any easily visible splatter from a grenade or mortar counts as a hit, regardless of the size. Grenade paint is a specific color not typically used in regular paintballs.

Barrel tags are a hit. The barrel must be attached to the marker for the hit to count. If you are barrel tagged you are not allowed to shoot your attacker (they are not out if you do shoot them).

Be honest and call yourself out when you’re hit. Take a break, cool off in the dead zone, and get ready for the next game.

Surrender Rule

For safety, players are required to surrender if they would be shot within 10 feet of an attacking player. If you refuse to surrender, the attacking player may open fire. Do not refuse to surrender, it’s just stupid. They got the drop on you. Do better next time. Do not fire at a player that has asked you to surrender. Once you have surrendered, call yourself out and go to the dead zone as if you were hit.

Rate of Fire

No full-auto fire during games. Semi-auto (one pull, one ball) and ramping are allowed. Any type or size of hopper is allowed. There are no restrictions on types of markers or triggers.

Grenades and Mortars

Grenades must be thrown by hand. Home-made grenades should be made with blue or white paint (so hits can be verified easier) and not contain any sharp objects. Paint, water, and coloring are the only things allowed inside grenades. Store-bought grenades are also allowed.

Mortars are grenades that are launched via the fixed mortar points on the field. For safety, mortars must be launched in an upward trajectory (ie, not directly at another player).

Marker Malfunctions During Play

If your paintball gun malfunctions during play and you can’t fix it on the field, you may call yourself out and fix it in the dead zone. You must wait until the next game or reinsertion to go back on the field.

Wiping and Other Forms of Cheating

If you are hit, you are out. Own up to it and go to the dead zone. You won’t be there long. Players caught wiping (cleaning a paint hit off to continue playing without going to the dead zone) will be given one warning. If you do it again, you will not be allowed to play at our field.

Pretending to be out so you can get a better position on the field is just plain wrong and cowardly. Don’t do it. We won’t ask you twice. Sneaking over to the other side before the game starts is rather ingenious though, especially if you can get away with it.

Any attempts to intentionally injure another player will result in a permanent ban from the field. This includes firing from less than 6 feet, launching a grenade from the mortar system directly at another player with no substantial arch, firing directly towards the dead zone, pushing/shoving, or fighting. We all come to the field to have fun, and we all have to go to work the next week. Be nice.
